Geraldine Ocampo to the Rescue!!!

Magandang Umaga!!!

This day, as usual, someone reported about the life of Rizal outside the country and it was rendered by Ms. Geraldine Ocampo. Noong nag- uulat siya, I was thinking if kailan ako makakapunta ng ibang bansa kasi I want to go abroad particularly in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Kahit iyan lang... makita ko lang iyong mga favorite actors and actresses ko... Anyways, she had given us these following informations:

... On May 3, 1882, Rizal left Manila on board the Spanish streamer, SALVADORA. Una niyang pinuntahan iyong Singapore but he just stayed there for two days and after two days, he went to Merseilles, France via a French streamer naman, DJEMNAH. Take note: He was the only Filipino passenger because most of the passengers were French. Dito naman, he stayed for three days and after three days, he went to Barcelona, Spain via train naman. Dito siya nag- stay for almost four months. so, ito iyong pinakamatagal niyang pag- stay abroad as of now.
... In the autumn of 1882, Rizal left Barcelona and went to Madrid (sa Spain pa rin naman). He enrolled in the famous Central University of Madrid. Dito, he took up two courses- (1) Medicine and (2) Philosophy and Letters.
... Basta, marami pa`siyang napuntahan- Paris, Potsdam, Germany, Vienna, Austria and Berlin. After ng mahaba- habang bakasyon abroad, he went back to the Philippines particularly in Calamba where he lives. Nang makauwi siya, nag- practice agad siya ng medicine and his first patient was his mother but he could not operate on her eyes because the cataract were not yet ripe. So, the other people came to him for they heard na nag- aral nga siya ng medicine abroad. Dahil nga magaling si Rizal in Medicine, tinawag siyang "Doctor Aleman".
... Rizal stayed at Calamba for just a short period of time kasi the friars hated him because of his Noli Me Tangere and they do not want to see Rizal. That is why umalis siya sa Calamba...
... Ang dami naman ng napuntahan ni Rizal. He is not fond of going abroad... hehehe

Hanggang dito na lang iyong pag- uulat ni Geraldine and after that, nagbigay na lang si Sir ng mga requirements sa amin. Dahil sa paglalakbay ni Rizal, kahit ako nahilo and napagod (as if kasama naman ako sa paglalakbay niya... wahehehe)

Sige, bye na muna and until my next experience na naman!!!

Adios!!!

Mae Ann Bequillo: Reporter's Notebook (Part 2)

Mina Ohayou!!!
Ipinagpatuloy pa rin namin iyong reporting and as expected, si Ms. Mae Ann Bequillo pa rin iyong mag- uulat but this time, about sa "Pasyang Mag- aral sa Sto. Tomas" naman iyong iniulat niya.

... To start, iyong pasyang mag- aral ni Rizal sa Sto. Tomas has one reason. First, he wants to take up MEDICINE course for him to treat her mother who has a KATARATA. But his mother was not in favor of Rizal's further studies in a university. She believed kasi that if her son would become too wise, he would lose his life. Naalala niya kasi iyong mga educated Filipinos who had been persecuted by the Spanish authorities, such as the GOMBURZA who are composed of Father Gomez, Burgos and Zamora. But Rizal still studied far from his mother's presence.
... Nag- aral siya sa Sto. Tomas when he is 16 years old in June, 1887.
... he took up the course in Philosophy and Letters because his father wants him to be a philosopher.

... The following year (1878), he changed his course into MEDICINE.
... While studying at the Sto. Tomas, he had accomplished many literary works. He wrote the poem, "To the Filipino Youth", na nanalo ng First prize in a literary contest by the Artistic- Literary Lyceum of Manila in 1879.

Iyon lang naman iyong nagawa niya... hehehe

Sige, hanggang dito na lang muna and I will just give you and share to you my realizations and experience next meeting...

Bye!!!

Mae Ann Bequillo: Reporter's Notebook

This day, pinagpatuloy namin iyong reporting but this time, si Mae Ann Bequillo na iyong mag- uulat about sa "Pagpapamalas ni Rizal ng Katalinuhan sa Ateneo" and "Ang Pasyang Mag- aral sa Sto. Tomas". She tackled first iyong pagpapamalas ni Rizal ng Katalinuhan sa Ateneo. Here are the informations that I had gathered:

... Actually, Rizal wants to study at other schools but his parents want him to study at the Ateneo de Manila University (formerly Escuela Pia). Noong nandoon siya sa Ateneo, nagpamalas siya ng pambihirang talino and in fact, he is included in the so- called EMPERADOR (not the beverages that alcoholic person drinks)... hehehe. It is a term that refers to those who shows excellence in academy or institution. However, Rizal is not included to the INTERNO students or those who stay inside the institution by means of a dormitory. Instead, he belongs to the EXTERNO students or those who stay outside the school. The reason why he stays outside the school kasi malapit lang naman iyong tinutuluyan niya sa school... kumbaga, walking distance lang. Also, the grades that he got were almost excellent.

See? Ang talino talaga ni Rizal and he could be a genius!!! I hope I like Rizal (demanding? hehehe). After the report of Mae Ann, Sir gave us a question to answer: Why I chose to study in CSPC and why Education?

... Thank you for that wonderful question... (Feeling kasali sa pageant... hehehe)

... Actually, I am not the one who chose Mathematics as my major but I really like to be a teacher, that's why, I chose Education. Honestly, I like English to be my major but since, my father is the one who filled- up the application form, then, I have no choice but to take a risk. But I was not wrong and I realized that I am starting to love Mathematics (in fact, I already do love it!!!)
... Why CSPC? Simply because it is the school where I can afford to study and I have no choice. Di naman kasi ako ang magpapaaral sa sarili ko, eh... hehehe. Pero I am thankful that I am studying here in CSPC kasi nakilala ko iyong mga classmates ko and I have already compiled a lot of experiences inside this institution (drama!!! hehe)

... So, hanggang dito na lang and the report will continue on Wednesday and si Mae Ann pa rin ang mag- uulat.

Adios for now!!!
